5. Welcome to Visitors: Bryon Navis, Robert Ott.
6. Report of Committees:
Recruiting/Membership: No report.
Fundraising: No report.
Civil War Expo: No report.
Cemeteries: Nothing to report.
Ancestry Day: Brothers Aronis, Bollen, Miswald and Wambold were at the Ancestry Day event. Only 1 person showed up. It is believed that the nice weather depressed
attendance. Though it will be considered if the event has run its course. The consensus was to try in March in conjunction with the Civil War Expo. Other suggestions were
to put genealogy aids on the website, and possibly doing a Round Table on the subject of Civil War genealogy.
Last Solider: Nothing to report.
Graves Registration: No report.
SVR (Battery): Brother Young distributed membership cards.
7.Reading and disposition of communications and bills: None
8. Applications for Membership: Bryon S. Navis and Robert William Ott as Associate members.
9. Balloting for Candidates: The applications of Navis and Ott were approved.
10. Initiation of Candidates: Brothers Navis and Ott were initiated.
11. Recess
12. Unfinished Business:
Grave Markers: Brother Bollen placed two GAR markers at Gage Cemetery in Auburn. These had been given to us by Steve Michaels. We will need to purchase one more to
place at Gage, and then return the American Legion markers previously on the Civil War veteran’s graves.
13. New Business:
Hake/Childs Cemetery: This is a small cemetery in the Town of Auburn. Brother Stelzel brought information about possible veterans buried here:
Chauncey Bestor, served in the War of 1812. His grave is not marked but some of his descendants feel he is buried in this cemetery. It was decided we should pass this
information along to the War of 1812 group.
John Wesley Tuttle, served during the Civil War in G Company, 14th Wisconsin Infantry. His wife is buried here and it is though he may be buried next to her. There is no
documentation of this, and the information Ken brought suggests Tuttle may have deserted. [NOTE: Upon further research I find this to be the case (see Wis Roster Vols). I
am also of the opinion that it is highly speculative he is buried here, as there is no evidence of his fate following his desertion. ARW.]
Elections: Our election of officers will be held at the next meeting, the following nominations were made:
Camp Commander: Ron Miswald
Senior Vice Commander: Richard Young
Junior Vice Commander: Howard Rokus, Richard Rohan
Secretary – Treasurer: Andrew Bollen
14. Good of the Order: Brother Miswald read from a report of the commander of New York battery concerning the activities of Lt. Alonzo Cushing at the Battle of Cedar
Mountain in 1862.
15. Closing Ceremonies
REMINDER: Next Camp Meeting: 27 November 2007. Elections for camp officers will be held and further nominations are welcomed.
